About the Nine Ladies Goddess Mandala

In this first blog post (Hello!) I wanted to walk you around my new Goddess Mandala Painting, as there is so much exploring to be done!

I sit at my art desk and stare, half in a trance as they share their stories and secrets with me, they show me the paths they have walked, the threads that connect them and the essences of life, death and rebirth which they imbue and reflect.

The inspiration behind this piece was the Nine Morgens of Avalon, who feature in Geoffrey of Monmouth's 12th Century 'Vita Merlini'. There is not a wealth of knowledge about these Nine Sister - Priestesses of Avalon, apart from the most famous Morgan Le Fae. However they were meant to be skilled in the healing, magical and creative arts, a lot like the Nine muses. It is thought the Nine Morgens are seen in the land here in Avalon and as Crows flying around the Tor.

But there is much more to this painting, as the number nine is also associated with many deities including the Morrigan, Freyja, Durga and many many more! As there is so much geeking to be done, I thought it might be nice to walk you around the Mandala in a video :) I hope you enjoy.

Hope you enjoy the litte video tour below...

If you have any thoughts and inspiration from this Mandala, please let me know!
